Powell Steel Corporation has a 67,000 square foot facility capable of fabricating in excess of 300 tons of steel per week. This capacity is based on the concept that main material steel enters the facility on a straight-line automated transfer system and is partially or fully fabricated on the transfer system. While on the straight-line transfer system pieces can be punched, coped, blasted and painted. Pieces requiring parts are removed, fitted, welded and replaced on the transfer system. Fully fabricated pieces exit the building ready for placement on trailers for shipment.
More than fifty employees work in the fabrication facility. Skilled operators using highly sophisticated angle, beam, and plate CNC equipment, punch the thousands of holes required on each job. Experienced fitters prepare complicated assemblies for production welders to complete. Knowledgeable and highly organized
employees move the material in and out of the shop. Supervisors provide the proper environment for the combination of high quality and efficiency that allow our projects to be delivered in a timely manner and fit properly in the field.
Our shop takes advantage of the latest technology. Highly accurate measuring devices are used on all the punching machines. Almost all of the CNC programming is downloaded directly from approved shop drawings produced by our detailers. Our shot blast machine makes a beautiful surface for our paint operation. The combination of the straight-line transfer system and high capacity overhead crane system allows for the greatest flexibility with material movement.
Our shop is located four miles south and one mile west of center city Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We have shipped our product to all of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Georgia and in fact can fabricate and then erect steel anywhere in the United States.
